Are you using GCL? If so, functions are limited to 100 arguments. The
limitation has nothing to do with Maxima, per se. Do you really need
more than 100 arguments?
There is no hard limit on the number of arguments in CMUCL and clisp. I
can verify that they both work perfectly well with thousands of
arguments.
