The maxima process shouldn't be started unless it is used, so it isn't
started by default.
I haven't been able to reproduce the problem (I'm using emacs 21,
pretty much the latest cvs maxima compiled against both gcl and clisp,
I ran it under clisp).
I'll play around with it some more, with any luck, I'll be able to
reproduce it.
