Um.  OK.  I guess I didn't understand the issue.

Probably true.  A sensible point.

Since the Clisp people feel strongly about it, we'll do that.  Jim's
already made the change to include the banner by default, I believe. 
Supressing both is also good - I believe xmaxima's display starts at
(C1)  The only argument for including it, really, is to make debugging
a problem a little bit simpler.  It's easier if we know the versions of
maxima and lisp people are running.

Sigh.  No.  No politics.  Just a concern for the utility of the startup
info.  That's all.  I actually think the banner's kinda cool, but it
takes up a lot of space which isn't directly related to the problem at
hand, i.e. doing math.
