I stumbled across IZIC again while copying a cd archive, and on a lark
decided to see if I could make a self contained izic for people to try.
I think I've got a partially working binary, although I'm not quite
sure what systems it will run on. Unfortunately the only working
display mode is wire frame, but a couple of the demo files like C60 are
wire display. There is some issue with the more beautiful display
modes involving old X pixmaps and depths which apparently have been
redone on the modern X servers, and I can't quit figure out what needs
doing. Does anybody know what to do about something like:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 72 (X_PutImage)
Serial number of failed request: 1773
Current serial number in output stream: 1778
I uploaded the file to http://maxima.sf.net/izic-linux.tar.gz if anyone
is curious - the download is under one meg. You should hopefully be
able to unzip it into any directory, cd into izic and type ./runizic.
Or cd into izic/linux and run ./izic if you don't have bash. I've only
run this on my machine so I can't say what will happen on others. I
don't know if it can still communicate with Maxima, so that might be
interesting if someone wants to try.
Anyway this is fairly useless for practical stuff in this form, but I
thought it was kind of neat.
