implicit_plot

I'd like to have an implicit_plot routine, as available in maple for 
example:

implicitplot(x^2 + y^2 = 1,x=-1..1,y=-1..1);

I think there used to be one in comercial macsyma, but there I did not 
find one for maxima. 

Has somebody written such a thing yet?
