Dear Jim,
I refer to your old message below on the ODE "bug" of March 15, 2002.
I believe the ODE files (there are several) are valuable for the solution of
many difficult odes (not solved just with ODE2) useful for my courses and,
what is much more important, for Maxima in general.

There is now the recent introductory message
- Function: ODE (equation,y,x)
This no longer exists in Maxima. The documentation is left here
for historical purposes. . . .
at the beginning of the related DESCRIBE(ODE) command. This
message has been absent in 5.5 beta and 5.6. It's new: in 5.9.0 only.
Could you, please, be so kind to remind us what has happened
about the ODE command and the introduction of this message
has become necessary perhaps by Daniel Lemire or you? Do you
recall something?
Maybe some (very delayed) copyright complaint by the author(s)
of the ODE-related files of DOE-Macsyma or, simply, these files
could not be found somewhere for some reason?
I would be grateful for any comment on the ODE command and
the above (disappointing) message. (Naturally, ODE2 works
perfectly, but it concerns just the elementary ode cases. I would
like to have more ode-solving power with Maxima.)
Many sincere thanks again. I am thankful to you for your kind
help and your devotion to Maxima (especially for Windows)
and I respect your time, but with this "bug" any help might be
extremely useful.
Best regards from Patras,
Nikos
