It is well known and documented in CMUCL README.
CMUCL is not compatible with HIGHMEM option in
2.4 kernels. Nothing terrible since kernel
can be rebuild with HIGHMEM off but sometimes very
inconvenient since HIGHMEM is often turned on
out of the box.
