On comp.lang.lisp somebody wanted to write a lisp interface for
mathematica. I told him that maxima might be a better choice. He replied:
Yes, I know of Maxima and it is an interesting option. However,
I need
- fast Groebner basis computations
- fast numerical non-linear-many-variable optimization
I suppose that mathematica beats Maxima in both of this tasks
I already sent him the link to Marek Rychlik's Gröbner package, does
anybody know about the second part?
If we could help him, Maxima might benefit a great deal, I think.
