Impossible to sync them, in any nontrivial
application.
I don't know much about Maxima, but I have programmed
more than 1 client/server interface, and my experience
has been that keeping state bits in different
locations is just asking for trouble.
Someone mentioned sockets for data transmission.
I agree that this is a good idea -- should work
across platforms, although there are typically
slight differences in socket behavior that cause
pain & suffering.
