Thanks to all for your quick replies. I take this opportunity to tell
you that I'm using Maxima for a course I'm teaching on Dynamical
Systems, at the University of Porto (Portugal). I use Maxima in all my
lectures and the 120 students enrolled in the course have to work on a
PC running Maxima during 2-hour weekly sessions. I show them the
advantages of free software but even those who decide to log into
Windows can work with maxima.
I've prepared some problems and lecture notes, which I will show to
you once I translate them into English (they are currently in
Portuguese).
The course just started this week and so far it is going fine. I just
ran into the problem with integer() and some bug in Debian's emaxima's
installation (which Camm fixed very quickly after I reported it).
Please, keep up your good work. I see an excellent future for Maxima
as a tool for teaching calculus; today's students are harder to
motivate in mathematics and physics, but with Maxima they become more
interested.
