I think also that the real problem is content, but the form in wich that
content is presented is relevant also. My experience is that using
Maxima from TeXmacs, instead of console or xmaxima makes easier for
students the use of this software. If the documentation is interactive
is even better from a learning perpective. I have worked by hand in
translations of documentation (wich can be automatized yet :-) )So may
be is better work by hand in a spanish interactive version of the Maxima
documentation (If the problem is content, there is not much content in
spanish, so it can be good localice this content). We can after that
transform this doc to other formats (html, LaTeX, pdf) for people who
dont have TeXmacs (of course the interativity and some other
caracteristics couldnt be ported to all formats).

What about giving the Windows users a Live CD wich includes TeXmacs and
Maxima a run from hard disk? This is what we're plannig to do in my
University.
