Richard
I have succeeded in running maxima/texmacs/cygwin combination on win
xp/2000, however the process is not straight forward, this is how I did it:
The GCL based maxima for windows work well both within cygwin shell as
well as windows dos shell but does not have any relationship with
Texmacs. The attempt to compile maxima with gcl under cygwin does not
work either. Therefore you need to enable clisp in cygwin to compile
maxima using clisp. However, maxima-5.9.0 source code has some
incompatibilities with clisp-2.31. The workaround I found was that I
replaced the following files in the Maxima-5.9.0 source with the files
in CVS.
commac.lisp
comm2.lisp
compar.lisp
displa.lisp
macsys.lisp
numth.lisp
I compiled the new maxima source with the help of clisp-2.31. This
does not automatically update the db and you need to run the
command "updatedb --prunepaths="/cygdrive"
After all these steps the maxima/texmacs/cygwin/xp/2000 combination works and the maxima shell opens up in a texmacs windows.
So far everything I wanted to do seems to be working that is to solve 2nd order diff. equations.I haven't tried other solutions
yet.
I hope you find this helpful
I was able to do this with lot of help from David.
