I second that. Help with the documentation would be most welcome.
My only caveat is that we plan to change the case sensitivity of Maxima
in the 5.9.2 release. The documentation will need extensive updating
afterward. One should keep that in mind if one is going to do a serious
amount of work in the meantime.

I hope the temporary problems with the Sourceforge CVS repository have
been solved by now. Jaime, if you are seriously interested in working on
the documentation I can give you write access to cvs.
