Quadpack and maxima

Dr. Fateman, it would be very interesting and possibly useful
if you were someday able to write up all the little tidbits
like this about Maxima - what various parts are supposed to 
do, their limititaions, and perhaps most importantly what 
would be ideal for various parts to do.   You probably have 
the best overall knowledge of things like this, and it could
prove valuable down the road to know which parts of Maxima
are most mathematically robust and which need updating/replacement.
