Hello,
A couple of times in recent months, the possibility of
setting up a wiki for Maxima has been raised. A wiki is a
collection of collaboratively edited web pages.
People have mentioned that a wiki could be a good way
to set up a FAQ or a design notebook. That makes a lot
of sense.
I have looked into a number of alternatives and the best
choice, I believe, is to host the wiki at SourceForge,
using the existing web server setup and a MySQL database.
SF will set up one MySQL database at the request of
project administration.
I recommend PhpWiki (http://sf.net/projects/phpwiki)
as the front end. It is easy to set up, looks nice,
and has a useful set of features. PhpWiki comprises a
set of PHP scripts that are unpacked into the htdocs
directory. No changes to system web server files are
required.
To see how it works, I set up a wiki at: http://riso.sf.net/phpwiki
Feel free to try it out.
There are some security issues about this set up.
I'd be happy to talk about that if someone is interested.
Regards,
Robert Dodier
