Many thanks to Jim for the snapshot release! I installed it
successfully on my Windows 2000 box running cygwin.
One issue I'd like to understand better: how exactly are you supposed to
manage the various files and paths?
That is, what is the recommended/canonical place to put source downloads
for systems like GCL and Maxima? With the current Maxima install
scripts, you end up with .lisp source files in two places: the original
download area, and /usr/local/share/maxima. Are you then supposed to
delete the whole download tree? Apparently not, since many of the other
files (README etc.) don't get copied over. So what is the point of
having two copies of the .lisp files?
With GCL, the binaries end up in the download directory itself. Or did
I mess up the installation somehow?
What if you're using CVS; what is the recommended path for the root of
your Maxima CVS tree? Does the build end up copying all the files it
uses to build? If so, why so?
Thanks in advance for your help,
