No, this is not that I mean.  These warnings are unpleasant but
completely harmless and actually make no trouble.  And they show up
not only with automake 1.8 but with 1.7 as well.

The real trouble I'm tolking about produces no warnings.
It seems that 1.8 handles list of files for installation
in some different fashion.
