texmacs and maxima versions

I am running texmacs 1.0.0.1. I upgraded maxima from 5.6 to 5.9.0 and
now it no longer works with texmacs. When I
	Insert -> session -> maxima
it says
	/usr/lib/maxima/5.9.0/maxima-run-lisp: Sorry, option -run not supported for LISPTYPE=oad.

Can texmacs 1.0.0.1 be made to work with maxima 5.9.0?
