That's been fixed in the cvs version.
However, if you send a new input to maxima while a long job is being
processed, then emacs will freeze up until the long job is finished.
This can be fixed easily enough, but then it could cause problems if
the long job needs to ask a question.
(I suppose that could be made customizable for the cases when the
user is certain the long job won't ask a question and wants to send
new input...)
