Hi all,
I recently found out about version 5.9 and about xmaxima and was very
excited about installing xmaxima on my machine.
I am helping a student prepare for an exam in basic calculus and he
has to plot a lot of functions. Imagine my dismay when I discovered
that
plot2d(2*(x+1)/(x-1)^2,[x,-5,5]);
puts maxima into an infinite loop! I guess it is not aware of
singularities.
I would myself venture forth into the wonderful world of maxima
internals, but it's been a while since I last used it and I am not a
lisp programmer.
Anyhow xmaxima looks terrific and the plot viewer is a real winner! I
also love the readline support that was absent from the 5.4. RPM.
Best regards,
