Other pervasive changes?

Ok.  If I happen to be looking at some stuff like that, I'll look into
changing or removing them.

Ok.  I won't play with special vars or anything until later, although
I did change one in the destructuring-let stuff.  But that was pretty
obviously the intended usage because it's only used there. :-)
