Hi Dieter.
| Hi,
|
| my first experience with Maxima (v. 5.9.1 windows version)
| after start is the following message (in detail):
|
|
| Can't execute C:/Programme/Maxima-5.9.1/bin/maxima -s 4008 &
| couldn't execute "C:\Programme\Maxima-5.9.1\bin\maxima": permission denied
| Can't execute C:/Programme/Maxima-5.9.1/bin/maxima -s 4008 &
| couldn't execute "C:\Programme\Maxima-5.9.1\bin\maxima": permission denied
| while executing
| "openMaxima $win littleFilter"
| (procedure "runOneMaxima" line 9)
| invoked from within
| "runOneMaxima .maxima.text"
| (menu invoke)
|
|
| What is to do? There were no problems during installation.
Good question - I don't recall anyone reporting this kind of trouble before!
Did you install the package as a different user (for example, administrator)
to the one you logged in as to start Maxima (for example Dieter, or whatever
user name you normally work with)?
Try right clicking on the file (and perhaps the directory itself) and choose
properties. Then look under security and see which users have permission to
access the file - "Read and Execute" at least, but I would go for "Full
Control" to be sure, at minimum for your user name and maybe also for
"Users".
You'll need to ensure that you have appropriate permission for the entire
Maxima install directory tree, not just that one file. If you click on the
"Advanced" button, you'll see a tick box which allows propagation of changes
as required.
| My OP is XP prof.

| Many thanks for help!
Sorry not sooner, and hopefully with some positive effect!
Cheers
Mike Thomas.
