Something I never knew before, but apparently newer versions of Lyx are
able to send and recieve maxima commands, at least on a basic level.
The trick seems to be a grayed out menu item that activates in the math
environment : Edit -> Math -> Use Computer Algebra System -> Maxima.
Has anyone else heard about this/tried it out? I wasn't aware of it
until now. I suppose I missed seeing some documentation somewhere - I
found an old email thread that I finally made sense of. I uploaded a
short example of what it can do as a .lyx file

http://maxima.sourceforge.net/lyx+maxima.pdf It's probably incomplete
though, as I don't know where the Lyx docs are for this feature.
Anybody know more about this than I do?
