Hello everyone,
Maxima can display integers in a base other than 10.
The user sets "obase" -- this corresponds to *print-base* in Lisp.
"obase" seems to have the expected effect.
The user can also set "ibase", which corresponds to *read-base*.
But I don't know of a way to actually enter any number
(short of ":lisp (setq |$FOO| #36RXYZ)" for ex.) with "ibase"
greater than 10.
I suppose that integers have to be preceded by # or some
other character if ibase is greater than 10, but I've failed
to guess it, and grepping through the documentation, I can't
find anything about it.
I don't have a need to work with different bases at this time,
I just want to bring the documentation for ibase and obase
up to date.
Thanks for any insights,
Robert Dodier
