Noweb is one of the less unpopular literate programming tools,
<http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~nr/noweb/intro.html>, and it comes with
an emacs mode, noweb-mode. By setting noweb-code-mode to
maxima-noweb-mode you will get reasonable indentation consistent with
that of the (greatly enhanced - thanks Jay!) noweb-mode and kin, and
the indentation code will not get confused by documentation chunks
either.
