My vague memory says it worked, but I might be wrong.

I was doing that, but thought it wasn't working, but the real bug was
using equal instead of alike to compare maxima objects.

With this change, the test suite runs now.  Thanks for the
suggestions!

I now have to fix up the testsuite so that it actually has the correct
values. :-)
