Hello everyone,
Concerning the CMUCL MT rng code, I have reimplemented the
functions to output floating point numbers & wrote some
little functions to get to the rng from Maxima.
At this point I'd like to ask if there is any interest in
importing this or any other portable rng into Maxima.
We have in hand a portable rng. I claim this is preferable
to the status quo. A suggestion is to make mt19937 the default
Maxima rng until someone comes up with an improved rng
(faster or whatever).
In any event I'll do more testing to make sure I haven't
broken something. Updated stuff is at
http://maxima.sf.net/wiki/index.php/Modified%20MT%2019937%20rng .
For what it's worth, & thanks for your interest in this topic.
Special thanks to Raymond Toy for his work on MT19937.
