Hello,
In hopes of forestalling further problems with the obsolete
set function library share/misc/set.lisp (which is the one
load ("set") attempts to load), I've moved it to archive/share/trash/,
and committed the current version (1.2.03) of nset, as obtained
from the web page of Barton Willis, to share/contrib/nset/
in Maxima CVS.
(I was going to ask if Barton and Stavros have any opinions
about killing off set.lisp, but they've already weighed in
on this -- "If possible, we recommend that all other set
packages be expunged or placed in an out-of-the way place",
in nset/announce-1.2.txt.)
There remains a file src/set.lisp as well, which should also
be superseded by the current revision of nset. I would move
this to the archive as well, but I realize that could goof
up the Maxima build. set.lisp appears in some files which are
auto-generated -- these can be ignored, right? The remaining
appearances of set.lisp are the *-depends.mk files and
Makefile.am. What have I missed? And once the list of files
mentioning set.lisp is established, is there any opposition
to cutting it out?
Thanks to Barton and Stavros for their work on nset.
Glancing through the code and documentation, it's really
impressive. Keep up the good work, & hope this helps,
Robert Dodier
