IIRC Maple's diffeq routines are perhaps the best going right now -
there was some excellent work done by these folks: . Using the papers
it might be possible to eventually duplicate some or most of this power
in Maxima (I seem to recall David's package was written using those
papers?) but it will not be an easy task. I think there is a test
suite they use to compare Maple's solving power to other CASs, perhaps
those equations could be made into an rtest file as a sort of "goals to
shoot for" type thing. The pages used to be here, currently I'm
