Gotchas with wxMaxima 0.6.0 on gentoo:
a) For printing, you need wxWidgets 2.5.4 with gnome printing support
enabled. There's no 2.5.4 ebuild, although you can hack the 2.5.3 as
follows:
i) remove the 2.5.x mask from /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask
ii) copy the 2.5.3 ebuild file to a filename using 2.5.4, and in
src_compile stick the following line in somewhere where it will be
included for sure:
myconf="${myconf} --with-gnomeprint"
iii) You may want to put this ebuild in your /usr/local/portage tree
so it doesn't evaporate later on.
iv) to avoid conflicts, I uninstalled my 2.4.x wxWidgets.
Unfortunately, the wx-config file is removed from 2.5.x installs by
default. I simply deleted the part of the ebuild that told it to
remove wx-config.
v) After all this, I installed wxWidgets 2.5.4 successfully. USE
flags used were: USE="no_wxgtk1 gtk2" although I don't know that the
no_wxgtk1 was needed. Note that packages are usually masked for a
reason, so you might be breaking stuff if you do this!!!
vi) wxMaxima built successfully, and does indeed have printing.
Although the square roots look rather odd in the 2D output - is that
just me?
Regardless, awesome stuff.
