Everything you say is correct. I am sure that the gnuplot interface
could be improved. I stop working on it when I determined it to work
"well enough." (I started out intending to have a live connection to
gnuplot via pipes, but I quickly decided that there were other topics
more worthy of my attention.)
Patches to make the gnuplot interface work better would be welcome.
