Fair warning - as far as I know, this is a very underdeveloped aspect
of plotting and Maxima in general - I think openplot_curves is the
relevant command but I have no idea if it uses gnuplot or still
requires that old xplot program or whatever it was. You might want to
keep this in mind in case your code needs to be revised at some point
in the future when we make this suck less. (It's been in the back of
my mind for quite a while but I haven't messed with it much - after my
experiences playing with mgnuplot/gnuplot I got a little intimidated by
the plot code. Now that Jim has made it safe I should try again :-)
