Dear Colleagues and Friends,
our e-learning suite, WebMathematics Interactive (WMI) has reached
its final stage of version 1.0.0. (Currently a newer version, 1.0.1
is also available which contains bug fixes only.)
Probably many of you already know that WMI is based mainly on Maxima
and it is the primary CAS for its underlying mathematics system. We
still search for volunteers to help developing education material
for WMI.
Two years ago, version 0.10.1 was announced in the Maxima mailing list.
Since then there are many new features are built into WMI. You can check
them all out here:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/wmi/wmi/NEWS?view=markup
Its SourceForge developers' page is available on
http://sf.net/projects/wmi
In addition, a ready-to-use demonstration site can be also visited on
http://wmi.sf.net
If you like the WMI system, you can download a bootable CD ISO image
(488 MB) on http://wmi.math.u-szeged.hu/wmi/livecd/ --- this version
is designed mainly for Hungarian users, however other people can still
use it without problems. This bootable CD is a modified Knoppix-3.7
distribution which also contains Maxima 5.9.1 as the only CAS for WMI.
This CD may be copied freely for anyone and is mainly for educational
purposes.
Partial documentation is available on
http://wmi.math.u-szeged.hu/wmi/wmi-en/ and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebMathematics_Interactive
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
