Right idea.  That will get the Maxima level stuff, but I would like to
get the lisp level (e.g. nformat, displa, etc.) as well.  And since
that would generate a huge amount of output, I would like some way to
manage it.  Looks like it might be workable though, if something
similar to the above can be done on the lisp level :-).  Customize it
to return statistics and only print the tree to (say) depth:3.
