In my experience the windows firewall never prevents maxima and
xmaxima connection - even if you click block when it asks the
question. ZoneAlarm is easy to set up so that it works - I can provide
more details on how to do it. However other programs might cause
problems too. I remeber MS AntiSpyware complaining that xmaxima is
trying to run a bat script - I don't know if that could cause any
problems.
