log10, was: bug report, or am I doing something wrong?

agreed in general that getting people started on open source tools
is a good idea, and in particular about maxima. i would like to see
maxima become the solution of first resort for students.

real vs unreal can only be decided in specific cases, i guess.
in reference to log10, it certainly is real enough. i've seen it plenty
of times in engineering problems.
