Robert,
For what it is worth, maxima-5.9.3 built without problems on my Mac with OS
X 10.3.9 and Xcode Tools 1.5. The only problem occurred during make install
when I (as I had to do with 5.9.2) changed the /share/makefile line
contrib/gentran/man/MANUAL.ps.gz\ to contrib/gentran/man/MANUAL.ps\, because
my Mac OS had automatically ungzipped the file.
When I ran the tests in the wish shell I got
No unexpected errors found.
Real time: 66.299675f0 sec.
Run time: 65.81f0 sec.
Space: 397903568 Bytes
GC: 301, GC time: 6.49f0 sec.
