libreadline is important part on any Linux
distro. You should have libreadline already.
Try
rpm -qa | grep readline
But version and exact package name vary from distro
to distro (readline-XXX.rpm or libreadline-YYY.rpm).
The only really reliable way it to get Maxima
rpm built exactly for distro you use (name and version!).
Otherwise workability isn't guaranteed.
Other option -- build it from scratch.
It isn't actually so hard.
