managing graphs

Don't worry!  Nobody going to delete "dumb" option.
The point is that "dumb" doesn't work on Windows.
Well, one can invent some special machinery to enable
it on Windows but IMHO it doesn't worth efforts.
On UNIX it works and will work fine.

This is controlled by *maxima-tempdir* lisp variable.
So set it

(setq *maxima-tempdir* "whatever directory you like")

Default value is set to user's home directory
on purpose.  maxout.gnuplot can be used with gnuplot
to adjust the plot or convert it to some output
format.
