I've been away from email for a while, but I think that
the "reliable computing" people have worked out notations
for intervals and various variations. These should be checked
up..
I'm not at all convinced that you want to use this notation
for ranges of plots. Notations in Maple and Matlab use
a..b (and sort of, for Pascal, as I recall) for integer steps,
or enumerated types.
