Getting a tar or zip file of lisp source code for Maxima

I can't seem to get anything from CVS by anonymous login.

Can someone tell me how to make a tar of the directory that would include
source  and how to download it?

It may be that there is already a file and I can't find it, or that someone
with more familiarity and privilege at sourceforge needs to make such a
file.

 

My goal is to compile (the latest) source on Allegro CL.  It should  now
compile/run on the trial (free) version.

PS,  I am using windows, but have cygwin and cvs on cygwin.
