Maxima and 64 bits architecture...

Sorry, I don't quite understand your question. 64-bit support is a 
property of an underlying lisp, not of maxima. For example, sbcl runs on 
64-bit amd and intel processors; compiling the standard maxima source by 
this lisp, we obtain a 64-bit maxima (and it works well). I suppose, the 
version of maxima is practically inessential (I first did this with 5.9.2, 
but I see no reason why earlier versions would refuse to compile with a 
64-bit lisp).
