Unless anybody can think of a reason not to, I'll change
the default for gcd from subres to spmod. Other than
the slowness (or bug) my example shows, there are known
bugs that go away when gdc : spmod. Before I do this,
I'll re-check that the testsuite is OK with gcd : spmod.
Of course, the right thing to do is to fix subres, but
the code is too recondite for me to debug.
