I don't see that error -- I have Maxima 5.10.0cvs +
texmacs 1.0.5 (patched) + clisp 2.38 + Fedora.
However, loading mactex.lisp is not necessary, I'm pretty sure,
since mactex.lisp is part of the standard build at present.
Probably pdiff was developed before that. Try cutting out
the ($load "mactex") -- does that help?
