When does share go mainstream?

There are things that have been in Share for 30 years! There aren't
any formal criteria for what should be in share and what should be in
the main Maxima system, but here are some of the considerations for
including a package in the main system:

-- it should be of fairly broad applicability or interest
-- it should cover a wide range of cases (not just special cases)
and work well (few bugs)
-- it should be documented using texinfo so that describe works
-- it should use notation that is consistent with other parts of Maxima
-- other parts of Maxima should understand its notations and
operate on them as appropriate
-- there should be practical input and output forms of any notations it uses

As I've pointed out in previous mail, not all the existing core
functionality actually fulfills all these criteria....

pdiff seems to fill most of them, and could probably be made to fill
them all without too much trouble assuming we all agree it is the
right way to do things.
