speed in linux vs. windows

Hello,
I noticed (at least with the 5.10.99rc3) that almost everything is
faster when maxima is run in Win-XP (Service Pack 2) instead of
  linux(Fedora Core 4).

This is on a Toshiba m200 laptop (1.8 GHz, 512 MB Ram). I have not
yet tried this on other computers yet.

For instance, I normally load a set of files with several computations
in a project I am doing.

In Win-XP it takes 53 sec to load.

In linux it takes 112 or 116 sec to load.

I have been told that the Intel Fortran compiler for Windows in much
better than the gnu fortran compiler (for speed and accuracy). Is
this also true of various lisps?
