I'm continuously amazed at how maxima improves. I remember a
discussion about linear and cubic interpolation about a year back. It
appears that someone took it to heart, and included it in maxima in
the interim.
I am able to eval linearinterpol results to floating point using the
"ev" function.
As for speed of the charfun2 routines and summing zeros, do you have
any profiling information to help decide how much time is being spent
or where?
