proposal to cut out plot2d_ps

Well, maybe you are right and contrib is the better place.
The fact that this code doesn't rely on any external
programs makes it special.  But we should
clearly state in documentation that

1) gnuplot is preferable way for ps creation
2) plot2d_ps can be used if gnuplot unavailable
3) it is in share and requires load()
