I really think you are doing great job for Maxima!
Thank you for your efforts!
But! IMHO we have to postpone code cleaning
if the issue with testing on GCL will not be resolved.
Otherwise we risk to get system which is seriously
broken on GCL. The main trouble with GCL is that
it is not quite ANSI-CL. But we can't just drop
GCL support in Maxima since at present GCL
is the only our option on Windows.
This reason is important enough IMHO.
