I don't know the speed of the DPS8-70, but the original Multics machine
(GE-645) was roughly the same speed as the PDP-10; Multics Maclisp was
probably slower, because it used 72-bit pointers, not 18-bit. On the other
hand, it had immediate integers and floats (not heap-allocated). I've sent
an email to the appropriate person to find out....
